What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
This took me a while to mull over. As a geek, the tropes and tribulations of heroes and their virtues have always made for good stories. But what exactly IS a virtue?
I googled it and stared at the descriptions.
Petunia Dursley, is that you? Perhaps too much of a good thing really is a bad thing. Yikes.
I mean, I can go on forever debating what the meaning of each of these traits is when applied to common human behavior. Does morality need decency to give it perspective? Are respectability and nobility really virtues in the modern age? I can go on forever. But I do believe that some of these ideas are incredibly antiquated.
Righteousness is great when applied to helping others, but can also ruin someone’s perspective. There are several differing opinions on morality all over the world, and some are worse than others. And the rest of it could just be pretty terms for a stuck up jerk who thinks they run the world.
I don’t know how to answer this at all. They all seem like opportunities for bad decisions to me.
What do you think?
